Project Description:

BME Australia is proud to be supporting Sunwater in the refurbishment of the Ben Anderson Barrage, delivering critical metalwork refurbishment and shutter replacement works as part of the $3 million project.

Located approximately 26 kilometres from the mouth of the Burnett River, the barrage is a vital component of the Bundaberg Irrigation Scheme, supporting irrigation across 55,000 hectares of farmland and supplying water to communities throughout the Burnett, Kolan and Isis Shires, as well as the city of Bundaberg.

The works are focused on extending the operational life of the barrage shutters and improving their performance under challenging operating conditions, helping ensure the ongoing reliability and safety of this important infrastructure asset.

Works commenced in late April and are scheduled to continue through to August.
